Understand your balcony opening
Measure the opening width and height, then look at the available fixing surfaces and how you use the balcony. Check handles, existing doors and the amount of clear access you need.
A screen designed for a small window may not be the right choice for a wide opening. Ask the installer to assess the actual dimensions and selected configuration.
Pleated or zip screen?
Pleated screens fold as they open and may suit a doorway or balcony entrance where you want the mesh to gather at the side. Zip screens use a guided arrangement and have manual and automatic options.
Confirm the folding space, track or guide position and maintenance access for the selected system.

Exterior roller blinds are a separate shade product. Ask which selected material and configuration provide the function you need, rather than treating every blind as a mosquito screen.
Check the maximum dimensions
Manual zip screens have a listed maximum width of 26 feet and height of 10 feet. Automatic zip screens have a listed maximum width of 20 feet and height of 11 feet. These are maximum dimensions, not confirmation that every opening suits the product.
